Scam?: Statements and Apologies
After TanaCon was cancelled, Weist disappeared back home, while Mongeau went to a “network party”. It took Good Times Entertainment not too long to address the cancellation, while it took Mongeau until the next morning to make a public statement.
The venue was held at a Marriott hotel in Anaheim, which had enough space in one of its largest conference rooms for approximately 1,500 people, according to the Garden Grove Police Department. Though Weist has gone on record to say that he was told that “the location could fit 2,000 people”. VIP tickets were being sold at $65, while there were also free tickets available for the general public, all through a ticketing company called Veeps. Weist signed a contract with everyone and all parties involved with the event. Which meant that he signed a contract with Veeps that said if anything were to go wrong, he would personally be responsible for it, since he is the sole owner of Good Times Entertainment. Numbers were pulled together and there were 5,108 VIP tickets sold and between 200-300 free tickets sold, making $325,000 in ticket sales.
