Description
Wednesday, September 20, 1893; pg. 57; Issue 54. This article is an interview of a Mr. Stanley Spencer making an emergency landing from a hot air balloon into the sea. Mr. Stanley Spencer tells a descriptive tale of the fall and it gives background to how he ended up in that spot. He talks about his concerns and his inevitable enjoyment from the whole ordeal. Mr. Stanley Spencer grows in his character when he jumps. This experience was new for its kind during the 19th century. The illustration is the center of the article, representing a more heroic version of the text it surrounds. It makes you think if Mr. Stanley Spencer is a reliable perspective of the account and why it was so important in this era to have this new technology represented.
