Title
Being John Ivy
Subject
Ella Marchmill in "An Imaginative Woman"
Description
When I was looking for my Omeka items, I discovered that I was mistaken about the original publication of "An Imaginative Woman." I came across this image, which is an original illustration that accompanied "An Imaginative Woman" in Pall Mall Magazine. The image depicts Ella wearing Trewe's clothing and falling so deep into her fantasy of becoming an established poet that she does not notice her husband's arrival. She stands in a man's clothes, admiring herself and the future she dreams of.
