Title
How to Do a Palm Reading | Palm Reading
Subject
Discussing the various steps of a palm reading session
Description
Though it has likely evolved in terms of practice from when Mr. Podgers was reading palms (or being a "cheiromantist," as the book calls it), palm reading is still considered a fairly popular practice among people who engage in spiritual practices, including tarot card reading, ouija boards, and psychic readings. What is particularly interesting about the video is that Ellen Goldberg, the palm reader in question, evaluates the hand of Darlene, rather than just outlining what certain lines and marks mean. For people who are hesitant to have their pals read because they see it as "occult," Goldberg is actually quite calm and serene as she goes about the reading, making it less scary. Furthermore, her calm demeanor draws away from the whimsical nature expected of a palm reader or other psychic, which usually turns off skeptics. What Goldberg does in this video is not unlike what Podgers does in "Lord Arthur Savile's Crime," though it is improbable to say there is any one defining characteristic of a murderer's palm, especially since it is not elaborated upon in the story itself.
