Title

Margaret Oliphant's Acknowledgement in, "Queen Victoria: A Personal Sketch"

Description

Queen Victoria's biography was published with the author stated as, "Mrs. Oliphant." It's easy to infer that this was in fact Margaret Oliphant, with the Queen being a vocal fan of her work. At the conclusion of the biography, in between it and the bibliography, there's a note that opens with the reveal of Mrs. Oliphant's death before the book's publication, further supporting the assumption that Margaret was its stated author. She died in 1897, the publication was undergone in 1900. The note states, "...she [Oliphant] fulfills her high station."
