Coverage

That incident took place in Alexandria, Egypt and everyone in the city knew about it through videos that were shared on social media (Facebook) and news papers. Shortly after the incident, a group of his friends at school decided to make a page on Facebook and named it “Kolena Khaled Said” which translates to; “We are all Khaled Said” to show their support for him and their disagreement on how the government and specially the police treats the citizens of the country.

After his case was over and the cops who killed him got dismissed on January 23rd of 2011, almost everyone in the country got really angry at that decision and started to interact very vigorously on the Facebook page. On January 25th of 2011 (Police appreciation day) is where it all started coming down, people on the page decided to go out to protest against the government and the dictator president who had been in charge for almost 30 years in a row, the main dictator Mohamed Hosni Mubarak.
