This authentic Irish cottage derives from Attymass, County Mayo of the 19th century. The cottage belonged to and was donated by the Slack family. This house stands alone, representing those left behind. The visitor of the memorial must walk through the dark, one-bedroom cottage made of brick before exiting back into the light to begin their journey on the upwards path.
