This book is a biography of the World War II hero, Louis Zamperini. The book follows Zamperini from his boyhood mischief to his days as an olympic track star and then his journey as an airman in the U.S. army during World War II. After his army bomber plane crashes somewhere in the Pacific, he floats on a raft for 47 days before being captured and imprisoned in a Japanese internment camp for two and a half years. The book is a detailed account of his time in the internment camps as well as a testament of a Zamperini’s strength and will to survive.
