Background

President Bill Clinton visited Northern Ireland to encourage the peace process between them and the UK. In Belfast and Derry, the streets crowded with people eager to see Clinton. During his visit he expressed his views on the troubles and met with the locals in the towns. The conflict at hand that led to Clinton's arrival and plea for peace, was between the Unionists and Irish nationalists who diasgreed on remaining a part of the United Kingdom or joining a united Ireland. President Clinton's visit was a succesful one as he expressed his desire for peacful realtions between the countries.
