Bloody Sunday

Bloody Sunday was held by the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association (NICRA). The leader of the march, Ivan Cooper, often participated in people's Democracy marches leading up to Bloody Sunday. The march was to protest internment and fair housing. What started as a peaceful protest ended up as a bloody massacre. The protestors started to throw rocks at the paratroopers and quickly became a riot. The paratroopers soon took matters worse when they started firing rubber bullets as well as firing their rifles at civilians. 26 people were shot and 13 died.
