'Moët & Chandon: Champagne White Star'
Dublin Core
Title
'Moët & Chandon: Champagne White Star'
Description
The lithographic poster slowly took time to emerge as a leading advertising technique, due to the process being historically slow and expensive. In the 1890s, we start to see this form of advertising become incredibly popular, particularly as French companies embraced the medium for printing their massive advertising campaigns. Alphonse Mucha, a Czech painter, was well known for his lithography and advertising posters. Mucha worked with Moët Chandon which we see is the company advertised in the poster. We see in this poster a blonde woman in a pink dress surrounded by warm colors. These colors are supposed to emulate Moët's lighter White Star champagne. Mucha appears to be selling a luxury lifestyle, with glamorous women set in opulent settings designed to appeal to people of taste.
