Title
Frondes Agrestes: Readings In Modern Painters
Description
The inspiration for choosing to research this source is due to an inspiration that came from the reading of "On The Western Front". In this text I felt that the role of literature was a tool that was subtly interwoven into the story which establishes some type of superiority between the relationships of individuals by the end of the story. In this story in particular Anna was someone who did not know how to read and write, so her dependence on her maid to communicate with the male involved established some type of personal connection between both of the writers. Admittedly she did not go out of her way to write that she felt any feelings towards the male, but with their letters to each other it felt moreso that the male was falling in love with this writer then the person whose name was attached to that letter.
To address this issue I intended to find a resource which discussed the value of literatcy in the Victorian Era. Therefore, while this does not necessarily approach the topic directly, this text addresses the ability for readers to imagine the text though writing.
