On Friday, October 21st, Lady Gaga released her fifth album "Joanne." This record sore on the charts quickly, as Gaga had not released pop music since her album "Artpop." It was known she was promoting her alubm around Manhattan, but that evening tweeted to her 50 million followers that she would be signing albums for free at her family's trattoria, Joanne's.

Personally, I was at Lincoln Center, about a block from the trattoria for a family members opera concert. I ditched Lincoln Center for a bit to see if I would be able to get into the signing, and the line was wrapped around the block of 68th street. There was a ton of commotion, flashing cameras, and the family was so overwhelmed by the mess of popularity her daughter has and has created in just a simple post. After three hours of signing, Gaga ran out of albums to pass out, and called it a night. All the attention to Gaga herself was also drawn to the family's trattoria.

There was pride and honor for the Germanotta family in releasing the album under the family name. Joe Germanotta speaks about in an interview his shift in perception on the private to public memory of the album. At first, his opinion on the album was negative, referrring to how the memory should remain under family knowledge. However, he grew to understand that what he was doing with the trattoria had the same goal as the album. The space of Joanne Trattoria for the use of the promotion of the album works in using all multimodel ways of translating the message of memorialization, as well as brings fourth a series of induvitual, collecitive, and public memories for all to exist.
