Joe On Hearing "Joanne" for the First Time

Lady Gaga on her father hearding "Joanne" for the first time.

The song, "Joanne"

This video presents a breakthrough for the relationship betwen Gaga and her father, and Gaga's ability to memorialize her aunt, whom she has never seen before. Gaga wrote this song in honor of her Aunt Joanne, and in doing so, she made the hardships of losing someone you love brought to the surface. Gaga's grandma, although she thought the song was beuatiful, was against the song being public, commenting that "she has gotten over it" and "it happened forty years ago."

This song spoke to her father in another way. Gaga wrote this song in her father's point of view, as she was trying to capture his emotions and struggles during the time of his sister's loss. This album put the memorial of Joanne in the most public form, music. It is vunerable and can relate to anyone who has lost someone in their life. Through the release of the album, there is a shift in Joe's perception on how the memorialization of Joanne should be kept. He allows Gaga to release the music, not like she was going to stop anyway, however his liking towards the song gives her access to expose Joanne's beauty to the world.
