Loyalist Mural

The loyalists wanted Northern Ireland to remain under the control of Britain. This mural was meant to highlight the wrongdoings of Sinn Fein. The mural features the phrase “20 families intimidated out by Sinn Fein” to depict Sinn Fein as a cruel and heartless organization. By turning public opinion against Sinn Fein, they hoped to make Irish citizens more hesitant about breaking from Britain. Loyalists feared that Northern Ireland would not be able to function as its own Nation without the benefits granted to them by the United Kingdom. These benefits included a powerful military, trade routes, and general economic stability.
