Title
First page of "On the Western Circuit" in a Magazine
Description
This is the first page of "On the Western Circuit" when it was published in a magazine. I thought this was very interesting because of the top mural and the ornamented "T" that begins the story. Much like Darby's item from earlier this week with the ornamented "W," the decoration of this letter caught my eye. The "T" is surrounded by different animals including birds and cats, and it also has a little plant like decoration. The header mural features what looks like Greek goddesses drinking from or worshiping a fountain, and has the quote "Let not the flowers of Spring pass us by, let us crown ourselves with roses before they be withered." I thought all of this decoration and ornamental imagery was interesting as it doesn't seem to relate to the story very much.
