"The Diary of Mr Poynter"

Description

This image is a modest illustration inspired by M.R. James "The Diary of Mr. Poynter". It vaguely describes how the ghost looks like, accentuating on its hair. This is also at the part of the story where Mr. Denton thinks that he is petting his dog, which in fact is not. The illustration however, gives the reader a face to the name and no longer makes the ghost encounter as mysterious as it seems. In my opinion it also takes away from the "movie" that is playing in my head when I read this because someone is telling me how a certain character is supposed to look. I think it also gives the effect that the entity that is supposed to be scary is fairly small. I always pictured the ghost to be big and look like the girl in the "Grudge". Other than that, it is a starting point to what this creature looked like and the amount of hair it possessed.
