"The Diary of Mr. Poynter"
Subject
The Diary of Mr. Poynter
Description
This image is inspired by M.R. James' story, "The Diary of Mr. Poynter." This image represents a moment in the story when Mr. Denton is sitting in his chair with his arm hanging over the side of his chair thinking that he is petting his dog, when in reality, this is not the case. By giving the reader this image, it helps them to visualize the amount of hair this ghost had and why this specific feature was talked about so much in the story. From looking at this image, the reader can understand how this was the most accentuated part of the body, considering the fact that it is hanging over the face which leaves the person looking at the picture, unaware of what the physical features of the face look like. The only thing we can infer is that the face may look like a skeleton's face because of the little bit of the body that is not being covered by the hair, we can see looks like a skeleton's body.
