Bloody Sunday Facts
This is an informative article that tells us the facts of Bloody Sunday. Bloody Sunday started as a peaceful protest with around 10,000 people. Even thought it was illegal to gather and protest they met anyway. The Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association organized the protest to oppose the British government’s policy of interning suspected members of the IRA without trial. The British army shot at the protestors causing 13 people dead and many more injured. After this terrible event was done a question was raised of who fired the first gun? The Roman Catholic community claimed the soldiers fired first while the soldiers claimed the protesters fired first. The Prim Minister ordered an inquiry and soon found out the soldiers fired first. None of the protesters shot dead were carry weapons.
