A Camper's Gift

Instagram post of a camper's gift left at CJM.

One way that people can get involved in helping to follow the mission that Camp John Marc holds is through volunteering. The people who help to run each camp over the summer are volunteers. Often times, the counselors who spend forging relationships and empowering the campers are college students. One college that has become a major provider of volunteers at camp is Manhattan College.

Manhattan College originally got started with volunteering at Camp John marc (specifically during the Camp Reynal sessions), as a part of their Lasallian Outreach Volunteer Experience (L.O.V.E.) trip programs. Unfortunately, the program dropped the L.O.V.E. Texas trip as an option for students choose from. However, this did not stop Manhattan College’s students from continuing Camp John Marc’s legacy at their school. They decided to proceed in fundraising and getting word out on campus to potential volunteers.

This Instagram post is of a rock that was left behind by a former camper with a note (displayed in post’s caption). It was left in hopes to inspire others to love and cherish camp, just like she did. The account belongs to the Manhattan College Jaspers who continue to legacy of their trip to Camp John Marc that was and remains beloved by many. They posted a photo of the rock and the camper’s story explaining that like her they cannot wait to return and love making memories at camp.
