One of the best mediums in today’s day and age is social media. It brings people's memories and experiences together “under one cloud.” It is amazing the stories it creates and how people are influenced into traveling to different places because they see other people there. There is usually one place in the location where pictures are being taken and that becomes the spot of attraction. Mediums create an atmosphere where people can relate to the same place with different posts or even hash tags. This just emphasizes the way that medium is the message. Is not so much the content of the image or picture people are taking, but the way that though this outlet people are able to connect and have the same experience.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral is recognized in Facebook with an actual group named the same as the church. It has over 85000 likes, in which people celebrate different events and follow up with the functions coming up. People usually take pictures in the events and tag the page. Facebook allows different features for you to access St Patrick Cathedral's from your house. There are many videos in the page just in case you miss the events. There are a couple of subgroups that are created in honor to celebrate specific special holidays. This makes people part of a collective memory. They celebrate all together as the community of the cathedral in midtown Manhattan.

St Patrick's Cathedral is used in Instagram as more of a hash tag. They do have a page with 14000 followers, but their hash tag has been used more than 200000. Instagram does a lot of story telling through the hash tags because any one can put it up. Every single time people visit or go to an event they can share their memories together with other people under this "bubble". The hash tag makes the memory go from an individual to a collective and even public memory. The actual Instagram page does the same job as Facebook.

Social media does a great job in recollecting and storing all these memories together. They are all saved in this “cloud” that will never disappear. Instagram and Facebook remind you every other day of memories (pictures you taken before) so you can repost it and share it with your followers or friends. It can be that same day a year ago and now social media reminds you constantly of these memories and to repost them. Over 2 billon people use Facebook and Instagram to communicate and interact with each other. These platforms are perfect places for a place like St Patrick Cathedral to be remembered for years to come. In today's modern day of technology, these pictures don't ever get erased and we know anyone can have access to it (pretty scary that my generation knows that our right to privacy is violated) any time. Social media does a good job in recreating memories for you and making colleagues. These platforms have revolutionized the way we remember and share these memories with our loved ones. No more huge books of pictures or albums!
