Introduction

One World Observatory Image

The One World Observatory is known for being the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. Although the building stands out due to its large size, it has more to offer than its impressive height. The observatory is located on the top three floors of the World Trade Center. The World Trade Center was created as a memorial for those who lost their lives in the attack on September 11th 2001. Besides standing as a memorial for September 11th, it was also created to replace the Twin Towers, which were destroyed on 9/11. The One World Observatory shows the formation of the building, accompanied by incredible views of Manhattan and the Hudson River. On the top floor of the building, guests are granted access to these breathtaking sights. Before they get to the top, guests are able to take a virtual reality elevator ride to the 102nd floor. Architects designed the One World Trade Center in a way that provides a new and organic experience while also paying ample tribute to the horrors that took place on these grounds.

Upon one’s arrival to the One World Observatory there is an image of a world map projected onto a large screen. Parallel to the map people can see different greetings in their native language. The One World Observatory consists of many inviting colors and large screens that draw in individuals. After guests are greeted, they make their way into a hallway composed of many mirrors and television screens. On the televisions screens those who contributed to the building of the One World Trade Center describe the process of its development. Next, guests go through another hallway eventually leading them to the elevator to go up to the 102nd floor. Throughout this hallway there are examples of the bedrock that New York City is built upon. The bedrock is roped off and tourists get to look at the foundation of New York. The exhibit focuses on giving guests and tourists a realistic look into the New York City experience. Visitors see the foundation of the city and how the city has grown from the early 1500s.
