I See His Blood Upon The Rose by Joseph Plunkett
I See His Blood Upon the Rose by Joseph Plunkett is a poem that takes a more religious approach in reflecting on the events of Easter 1916. This poem, while never actually addressing the battle, was a reflection on taking what had happened and moving forward. There is a rising that is happening and the man that is addressed in the poem is holding a common ground with the writer. The narrator is claiming to see his face where ever he goes and seeing the blood that was shed. This is in correlation to seeing and remembering the fallen men that took part in the Easter 1916 Rising. How the narrator and the one whose blood was spilled share a common goal and it took on noble sacrifice to bring that goal to light.
