O'Connell Street by Francis Ledwidge

This poem is O'Connell Street by Francis Ledwidge that is rather short but still holds the main concept of hope for a nation. The poem begins by discussing a "noble failure that is not in vain", this failure being the events of the Easter 1916 Rising. As it goes on we can understand the "her/she" in the poem is in reference to Ireland. Despite this failure, there was a beauty that was born. From there on out there was a generation that was shaken and moved by these noble remembers the sacrifice for their country; referencing Ireland as a female to romanticize the sacrifice that these citizens went through.
